Giving Opportunities

Stewardship comes in many forms. Whether by recurring online gifts, cash/check, stocks, IRA qualified charitable distributions, or estate planning, you can support our Lord’s work at Hope Community Church in many wise ways.

The funding of all operations and ministries, including capital improvements, is handled through our Operating Budget. We have a separate Mission Budget – Sharing Hope – that you may designate gifts to. Unless otherwise noted, all gifts will be allocated to Hope’s Operating Budget.

Giving records for all contributors to Hope are maintained through our church database software, Realm. You can view your giving records anytime by logging in here.

If you do not have a Realm login, please request one or contact Rebecca Yerby, Administrative Director, for assistance.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

Malachi 3:10

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are 70.5 or older, you may be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. The law uses the term “qualified charitable distribution” (or QCD) to describe an IRA charitable rollover. A QCD is money that individuals who are 70.5 or older may direct from their traditional IRA to eligible charitable organizations. Individuals may exclude the amount distributed (up to $105,000/year) directly to an eligible charity from their gross income. An IRA QCD is a great way to steward your resources and help continue the Lord’s work at Hope.

BENEFITS OF AN IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your traditional IRA to Hope

  • Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year

  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions

  • Make a gift that is not subject to the 50% deduction limits on charitable gifts

  • Help further the work and mission of Hope Community Church

HOW AN IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER GIFT WORKS

  • Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift directly from your traditional IRA to Hope.

  • Your IRA distribution will be directly transferred to Hope.

  • Be sure to contact Rebecca Yerby, our Administrative Director, to ensure that the proceeds are designated as intended. Many times, IRA checks do not include information about you or your intentions for the gifts. As a result, your gift may not benefit the particular ministry area you had in mind if you do not contact us with your specific preference for your gift.

  • Please note that under this provision of tax law, donors benefit by not having to recognize (as taxable income) the amount contributed directly from their IRA to a qualifying charity. However, because donors can exclude this contribution from their gross income, they cannot also include the amount in their itemized deductions for charitable contributions; to do so would result in a double tax benefit for donors and that is explicitly prohibited.

  • If you have further questions, please consult your Tax Professional or Financial Advisor for more details on the potential benefits of an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCDs)

Legacy / Estate

The estate you leave behind will likely be one of the largest financial responsibilities you’ll need to consider. Stewarding your estate resources well is therefore a worthy consideration and an act of good spiritual discipline. Please consider including Hope in your estate giving plans to ensure your charitable interests in supporting the Lord’s work will continue here after you are with the Lord! If you have questions, please reach out to Rebecca Yerby, Administrative Director.
